Using a servo, the 1000s exhaust system adjusts the exhaust back pressure depending on engine speed, throttle position and gearbox selection to increase torque, reduce emissions and reduce noise; the standard exhaust noise of the GSX-R1000 is lower than that of the GSX R600. Suzuki introduced a new GSX R in 2001, replacing the bigger and more powerful GSx-R sports bike model, the GSZ-R1100, with the Suzuki GSX R1000.    

For the 2005 model year, the GSX-R1000 had a 20 kg lighter weight than the predecessor model and an engine with 11 cc more displacement. Based on the lessons learned from the development of the Suzuki MotoGP suspension, the engine angle of the GSX R1000R is six degrees backwards compared to the previous generation. Its swing arm swivels have adjustable positions on the frame, which can be adjusted for competition use or used in the standard road driving position.

The GSX-R1000Rs fork, shock absorber body and gold anodised chassis components are from the team behind the Suzuki Ecstar GSX road bike. Unique to Suzuki are the lightweight six-spoke wheels, which reduce unsprung mass and are designed to withstand the braking and traction forces generated by the wheel. The narrow GSX R1000Rs shape supports performance with improved handling at top speed on the track.    

Suzuki relies on high-end equipment for the Suzuki GSX-R1000R 2021. The brakes come from Brembo brakes with 320mm double discs at the front with 4-piston radial calipers and 220mm discs at the rear with single piston calipers. Due to the larger diameter of the discs and the energy they absorb, the GSX R1000R provides the driver with more braking power. Based on Suzuki's race-proven closed ratio gearbox, the R1000Rs transmission has offset shafts to reduce the overall length of the engine.

The Suzuki GSX R1000 features a fluid-cooled 999 cc inline four-cylinder engine delivering 202 bhp at 13,200 rpm and 11760 Nm of torque at 10,800 rpm, & powered by an EFI Suzuki Motorcycle Ram Air Direct (SRAD) variable-length air intake system. The GSX-R1000R won GC Championships in the UK, US and Australia after its launch as well as Senior TT and Isle of Man. After its launch the GSX-R1000R shares more colour with the GSX MotoGP machine which uses the same variable valve timing system to boost torque and peak performance. The 2017 Suzuki GSX R 1000R needs a bit of swing to make high-speed directional changes, but the standard tires are not too difficult to track and edit, and it's fast, fun and refined, safe and easy to drive thanks to its new electronics.

We took a look at Suzuki's latest GSX-R1000 on the dynamometer and curved gears for acceleration and top speed. The new GSX R1000R achieves this because it operates with a lower gearbox than the legendary K5 Suzuki GSx R1000, which compensates for the fact that it produces slightly less power and torque than the K5 at 10,000 rpm. The K5 makes up for that with a bit more at this speed, but the new bike beats it both in speed and acceleration as it takes off from 10.00 rpm and shifts gears up to deliver a hard and fast acceleration hit at the top.    

The new high-speed balancing shaft dampens vibrations, and the mechanical variable valve control used by Suzuki and MotoGP for ten years is now powered by a wire choke. There is no uneven fire to allow the engine to be used and unlike other motorcycles that vibrate, the GSX R1000R delivers good smooth and reliable performance at engine speed without causing screams in the exhaust.    

The new engine combines the grunt of a modern old school GSX-R1000 superbike with the exhilaration of a flawless power curve and precise throttle response. The Suzuki GSX R1000R is not one of a few motorcycles that, despite their optimistic speedometer reports, can reach a real top speed of 100 km / h in first gear and not in the first, which requires a shift to second gear. 

In terms of specifications for 2021, the Suzuki GSX-R1000R will continue to be powered by a 999 cc in-line four-cylinder liquid cooled engine. Suzuki engineers developed a variable valve timing system to circumvent the rules that restrict such a system in MotoGP, the same design as the new GSX R1000. The fully electronic suspension found on the counterpart has been stretched by Suzuki, and we expect the 2022 model to deliver real 200 horsepower, not the horsepower of the IMU-controlled GSX and R1000 that the R1000R would have welcomed. 

Suzuki's Motion Track Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) provides rear-wheel drive deceleration, strong braking and low RPM resistance to prevent the GSX-R1000 from stalling when accelerating from a standstill.    

The aluminium frame with two spars, two Brembo four-piston calipers and the Showa USD front make Suzuki's GSX R1000R a star on the track. The new Suzuki Kingquad 500 and Kingquad 750 Power Steer models from 2021 feature a versatile new carrier cover.
